[07:49:26] <Tsvetan> Asara: can you at least capture the boot log it will have info about the image
[10:30:10] <leon-anavi> hi
[16:55:53] <Asara> how would I go about doing that? linux boot log or from uboot?
[16:57:35] <jo0nas> boot from a serial console
[16:59:29] <jo0nas> if you cannot boot linux then I guess there is most sense in focusing on uboot logs
[17:00:09] <jo0nas> (there is probably ways to save uboot logs from within uboot, but they are likely more tricky than setting up serial connection)
[17:03:17] <jo0nas> another approach - if you don't have a serial cable but you do have a spare microSD card, is to boot on a fresh system on that other microSD card and on that system pleay with uboot configuration - and when you feel confident in that, move to the old system and try boot an older kernel there
[17:04:48] <jo0nas> this might help: https://linux-sunxi.org/Mainline_U-Boot#Configure_U-Boot
[17:27:11] <Asara> thanks jo0nas i should have a second sd card somewhere in my apt to mess with
[17:28:28] <jo0nas> Asara: I guess now it the time to then advertise my Debian-based images at http://box.redpill.dk/ ;-)
[17:28:55] <Asara> do you recommend those over the olimex ones?
[17:29:34] <jo0nas> depends on what you want to do - if you want to debug your harsware together with Tsvetan then use the image provided by Olimex
[17:30:01] <jo0nas> ...and if you want to use Armbian then grab one of their images
[17:31:03] <jo0nas> ...but if you - like me - prefer using pure Debian but want to skip the tedious step of running the official Debian installer on the box itself - then try my image
[17:32:11] <jo0nas> also, since I am quite interested in my images working well, I would want to invest time in debugging it with you if you run into trouble using my image
[17:37:06] <Asara> yeah i'd prefer pure debian if that is simple enough
[17:37:15] <Asara> i'll give your image a go after work (still the morning in my tz)
[18:08:21] <jo0nas> I am in Denmark - where you you (if you don't mind me asking)?
[18:09:18] <jo0nas> ACTION guesses west coast US...
[18:13:42] <Asara> east coast us
[18:13:45] <Asara> nyc
[18:54:26] <jo0nas> ah :-)
[18:55:47] <jo0nas> seems you use as relaxed definition of "morning" as I do, then :-)
[19:03:07] <Asara> I usually start work around 10... and it just became noon :)
