[10:42:49] <xcko> anyone have sound on the teres with mainline linux?
[11:24:53] <jo0nas> xcko: I don't
[11:25:22] <jo0nas> ...but I haven't tested recent upstream kernels
[11:53:04] <dddddd> I never tried sound, yet.
[11:56:55] <dddddd> BTW, xcko... I read you in some other channels. So, not much funcionality from lima is expected from the actual impl, did I understand correctly?
[20:09:23] <Thra11> quit
[23:03:59] <xcko> dddddd: I'm not certain, but lima doesn't support glamour yet, which apparently makes a big difference when it is supported. Frankly I don't understand exactly how all the drivers fit together. Does the lima driver need to be controlling the framebuffer, ie, should there be a lima-drm-fb line in dmesg? The xorg-video-fbdev driver has no hardware accel., does xorg need to be using the modesetting or fbturbo
[23:04:01] <xcko> driver for lima to work? etc
[23:30:06] <xcko> my thinking at the moment is that only one video driver is used at a time. As of 5.2-rc5, there is no support for the e-dp which connects the display on the teres, which means lima can't control the display and only the fbdev driver works. ie lima gets loaded, but can't control anything so it doesn't do anything
[23:32:06] <xcko> the anx6349 patch, submitted to the kernel mailing list, gives some support for the e-dp, but judging from my dmesg and armbian's, it's not enough for lima to work, however the sun4i-drm driver does work. So with the anx6349 patch, sun4i-drm does work, and with the modesetting driver can be used in xorg.
[23:33:26] <xcko> meaning lima, iiuc, while loaded, doesn't work on the teres at the moment with mainline or with any patches I know of because it can't control the display.
