[12:28:39] <seletz> Good morining all.
[12:28:51] <seletz> morning, even.
[12:31:04] <seletz> jo0nas: Just in case you're listening -- my teres-i LCD problems seem indeed cable related. Just out of nothing I got raster output. Everything worked until -- of course -- after I cloded the teres-i chassis. Then I got fed up and left. So today another turn :)
[13:40:08] <jo0nas> seletz: that is annoying, but at the same time good that you've isolated the cause!
[13:54:07] <seletz> jo0nas: Ok, now I have it. The routing of the LCD cable was too sloppy -- everytime I cloded the laptop it would stretch, which caused the LCD connector on the mainboard to loosen *slightly*.
[13:54:38] <seletz> And when I had the laptop disassembled, the connector at the LCD end loosened slightly. Gha!
[13:54:56] <seletz> I should have remembered -- it's always the cable. ;)
[13:55:37] <seletz> jo0nas: One thing which is super cool with your image is that it boots *way* faster.
[13:55:55] <seletz> Faster than the stock image I mean.
[13:56:12] <jo0nas> it boots way _less_ so that should not be surprising
[13:56:18] <jo0nas> happy you like my image!
[13:57:06] <seletz> jo0nas: I'd like to get that box build setup on my machine -- so that I can tweak it. I do want some more output when the kernel boots, for instance.
[13:57:21] <jo0nas> feel free!
[13:57:35] <jo0nas> ...and please consider sharing your tweaks!!
[13:58:14] <seletz> jo0nas: sure -- I'll fork. Do you mind if I put the for on GitHub?
[13:58:26] <seletz> s/for/fork/g
[13:59:55] <seletz> jo0nas: I quite like the work flow using PRs. I could also send you a mail if something pull-worthy does appear on my fork.
[14:00:08] <jo0nas> well, it is free licensed so you need not ask - if you ask because you want me involved in that then no thank you: I would love to collaborate but will then strongly prefer doing so at salsa.debian.org (yes, you need not be an official Debian member to get write access there)
[14:00:58] <seletz> Oh wow -- That's a whole new can of worms right there.
[14:01:33] <jo0nas> it has been the intention all along to have to source in Debian - I just did a "quick detour" 2-3 years ago which turned out not to be so quick after all, and haven't cleaned that up yet (the hostname "hamlet" is a machine name at homebase.dk)
[14:01:40] <jo0nas> ho so?
[14:01:45] <jo0nas> how*
[14:02:05] <seletz> I'm not sure if I understand what that means. "official debian member" sounds scary.
[14:02:21] <jo0nas> "need not" is the important part
[14:02:34] <jo0nas> you *don't* need
[14:02:37] <seletz> Ah :)
[14:02:40] <jo0nas> :-)
[14:02:43] <seletz> phew
[14:03:44] <jo0nas> would you be interested in collaborating there, instead of at Github? Then I'll prioritize moving my development over there, and help you get settled
[14:03:48] <seletz> You knowm I left the whole arm/linux/LKML/irc thingy quite some time ago. It gets quite -- involing -- if you know what I mean.
[14:04:38] <seletz> jo0nas: Well, let me read up on what that entails -- If you could give me some hints I'd be glad.
[14:04:52] <jo0nas> I know that free software movement is *big* so you can get lost in it if you dive too deep, and I know that human beings can be challenging to work with - if any of that is what you are referring to
[14:05:38] <jo0nas> are you asking how limited your involvement can be?
[14:05:40] <seletz> Well I once mad a living in doing embedded linux, so i was quite involved.
[14:05:47] <seletz> s/mad/made/g
[14:06:12] <jo0nas> I once made a living myself :-D
[14:06:15] <seletz> No, I just have a full-time job and I'm reluctant to over-committing
[14:06:35] <jo0nas> I don't ask you to promise anything at all
[14:06:38] <seletz> Live, Kids, Wife -- you know :)
[14:07:04] <seletz> Ok, then. I guess salsa.debian.org is just a git server?
[14:07:18] <jo0nas> it is a Gitlab instance, yes
[14:07:26] <seletz> O cool -- gitlab even!
[14:07:51] <seletz> So what would it take to get an account there?
[14:08:09] <seletz> ACTION looks
[14:08:38] <seletz> ACTION found the signup page
[14:08:39] <jo0nas> what I propose is that you join a team that for now consist of only you and me and one other person - if you at any time feel it is a pressure you simply stop responding (or share your concerns, if you like)
[14:09:04] <seletz> jo0nas: Sounds great.
[14:09:25] <seletz> ACTION fetches some more coffee
[14:10:41] <jo0nas> great - please request membership at this team: https://salsa.debian.org/tinker-team
[14:10:54] <jo0nas> I will move the box stuff over there!
[14:14:36] <seletz> jo0nas: my username there is "seletz-guest"
[14:16:09] <seletz> I've sent a request
[14:16:17] <jo0nas> welcome aboard!
[14:16:42] <jo0nas> I put the "box" git there now
[14:17:07] <seletz> Yes, I saw. Is there a tinker-team IRC channel?
[14:17:26] <jo0nas> I am not familiar with PRs / MRs so would appreciate if you help me out on that
[14:18:25] <seletz> jo0nas: Will do. It's quite easy -- we'll figure out as we go.
[14:18:40] <jo0nas> #tinker at OFTC.net
[14:26:51] <seletz> jo0nas: Oh my gawd, need to tweak irssi settings. It has been a loooong time :)
[14:27:28] <seletz> jo0nas: cloning did work, set up ssh key etc. I can work off salsa.debian.org now.
[14:28:08] <jo0nas> excellent!
