[02:00:15] <nedko_> it looks my micro gets more sata cable problems than lime2 machines i have
[02:01:00] <nedko_> at some time i should probably replace the micro with a lime2, especially after gpsd stopped supplying time to ntpd
[12:25:22] <leon-anavi> hi
[17:05:04] <horigome> Hi guys, I just received my A33 board. Looks great so far!
[17:05:21] <horigome> I was wandering which method you use to gain shell access on it since there is no ethernet connection?
[17:06:15] <horigome> Also, do you have any tutorial or steps on how I can have my root file system running of the NAND flash?
[17:11:02] <leon-anavi> horigome, have you tried using USB to serial cable attached ot UART on the board?
[17:13:02] <horigome> Actually no, until now I have always used the Ethernet port on my devices to gain shell access. I have a UART to serial adaptor lying around here somewhere so I guess I could try that..
[17:28:14] <leon-anavi> It should work
[17:28:56] <leon-anavi> have a look at the description of the board: Debug UART connector
[17:31:12] <horigome> Yes exactly. The UART to serial USB adaptor I had lying around is based on the PL2303TA chipset. Running dmesg I get "usb 1-3: pl2303 converter now attached to ttyUSB0". Which software is good to use to communicate to the A33 device?
[17:31:47] <leon-anavi> the software for reading serial data is not specific to the SoC of the board.
[17:32:00] <leon-anavi> The most popular solutions are screen or minicom
[17:32:15] <leon-anavi> minicom is more sophisticated but for me screen is easier
[17:32:48] <leon-anavi> if you are a Windows users (I am sorry for you if this is the case) then putty should do the job for you.
[17:33:15] <leon-anavi> (my comment for Windows is just a joke ;) :) :) )
[17:33:32] <horigome> Hahaha, no way man! I run linux, of course!
[17:34:41] <horigome> So... I am using minicom and have selected /deb/ttyUSB0 as the port I am communicating with. It does say "Offline" in the bottom of the screen. How to I initilize the connection?
[17:35:24] <horigome> There is a red diode with a stable light on the olimex board itself
[17:36:02] <horigome> These are the parameters on the bottom "CTRL-A Z for help | 115200 8N1 | NOR | Minicom 2.7 | VT102 | Offline | ttyUSB0"
[17:58:47] <horigome> No worries, I am in.
[17:59:26] <horigome> But how can I run my rootfs of the flash and boot from thereÞ
[17:59:31] <horigome> ?*
[18:15:13] **************** Logging Ended ****************
[18:15:23] **************** Logging Started ****************
[18:15:57] <horigome> What do I have to do to make it Online?
[18:18:17] <horigome> ... okay I managed to figure things out.
[18:29:50] <leon-anavi> well done :)
[18:37:28] <horigome> I noticed that this is a newish board. Have you tried to use it to play audio?
[18:37:49] <horigome> When I run speaker-test I get some pretty nasty seg faults
[18:50:06] <leon-anavi> I don't have it
[18:50:42] <horigome> The seg faults?
[18:51:48] <horigome> The boot image I am using the one you provided "A33_OLinuXino_allwinner_kernel_3.4.39_Jessie_rel_1.img.7z"
[18:53:49] <leon-anavi> what do you mean by "you"? :)
[18:53:56] <leon-anavi> I haven't provided you anything
[18:54:04] <leon-anavi> Olimex is providing stuff for their boards
[18:54:35] <leon-anavi> I don't work for them. I also buy boards from them and I just provided you free advice to help you :)
[18:57:31] <horigome> Ah I see, I thought you worked for them (:
[18:59:43] <horigome> Thank you for your help
[19:11:31] <leon-anavi> you are welcome :)
[19:11:48] <leon-anavi> sorry that I am unable to provide you further assistance but I just don't have that board.
