IRC #olimex 2022-01-20

[01:17:00] <markvandenborre> Tsvetan: nice to play with the olimex esp32 stuff, great as a toy and will be using it in production at our countryside home for home automation
[01:17:10] <markvandenborre> really happy with it
[07:35:16] <Tsvetan> markvandenborre thanks!
[07:40:52] <Tsvetan> Did anyone here worked with RK3328? We have new board with RK3328 and the available software is bit odd. There are few Chinese vendors for boards and all their Linux binaries either have broken links for the sources either the sources posted do not generate the same binaries :) and all these images are for servers not desktop with graphics.
[07:41:53] <Tsvetan> There is Armbian image https://forum.armbian.com/topic/16517-rk3288rk3328-legacy-multimedia-framework/ which is supposed to work but our people can't build working image from it also
[07:42:23] <Tsvetan> If someone has more experince with RK3328 and is willing to help we have boards to offer :)
[18:04:51] <jonas> Tsvetan: I don't have much experience yet but have one (non-Olimex but Debian-supported) board to play with, so I expect to have a baseline of something working to compare against - if that sounds helpful to you
[18:08:52] <jonas> sorry, scratch that: my board is rk3399, not rk3328 - I am still happy to help if that is of interest
[18:13:30] <mps> rk3328 should work with mainline kernel
[18:14:53] <jonas> there's an rk3399 SDcard image for Debian which *should* be an indication that *some* rk3399 board boots with Debian
[18:15:07] <jonas> http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/dists/sid/main/installer-arm64/current/images/netboot/SD-card-images/
[18:15:38] <mps> jonas: I have rk3399 chromebook, works fine with mainline kernel
[18:15:56] <jonas> 4 Debian boot images, even
[18:16:20] <mps> and I know that some alpine users have rk3328 and they reported it works
[18:20:43] <mps> though not sure that gpu works on rk3328
