IRC #olimex 2017-02-03

[10:30:47] <leon-anavi> hi
[10:50:30] <yang> Hello, I read about Olimex Teres I laptop ? It uses Open Source hardware, How well does it match with the free hardware measures, specified in RYF ? http://www.fsf.org/resources/hw/endorsement/respects-your-freedom
[12:19:25] <rah> https://www.olimex.com/Products/DIY%20Laptop/KITS/
[12:19:31] <rah> these both say "Out of stock"
[12:19:39] <rah> is the TERES I sold out already, or has it not been put on sale yet?
[13:53:32] <kr_eten> Hi Olimex people and entusiasts
[13:53:54] <kr_eten> in the past I managed to start RF24+ uext modules on the olimexino (A20) board
[13:54:37] <kr_eten> i was using spidev device
[13:55:24] <kr_eten> this is legacy kernel (not mainline) and over time I made it boot from sdcard but then all the file system is further booted from the sata disk
[13:55:41] <kr_eten> now my problem - I don't seem to have the spidev available any more
[13:55:53] <kr_eten> insertind spidev module does not add it to the three
[13:58:52] <leon-anavi> hi Dimo :)
[13:59:53] <leon-anavi> could it be something related to the spidev udev rules?
[14:30:37] <kr_eten> Hi leon
[14:30:47] <kr_eten> checked the rules at some point
[14:30:58] <kr_eten> looked the same as the ones quoted in the net
[14:31:07] <kr_eten> also, no change on that front anyway
[14:40:41] <kr_eten> ideally I should be able to fix this without recompiling kernels, boot loaders and so on
[16:18:17] <leon-anavi> kr_eten, make sure that your linux-sunix kernel has been configured for SPIdev: http://linux-sunxi.org/SPIdev
[16:18:42] <leon-anavi> there are several options that must be enabled at the defconfig before compiling the kernel
[16:50:49] <adj__> rah, I don't think that it has been sold yet, maybe they just wanted to place the page with "Notify" option and with links to the documentation
[16:51:20] <adj__> perhaps the database has a field with "OUT OF STOCK" option but not with "NOT YET AVAILABLE"
[16:51:51] <rah> adj__: I can guess but I'm asking the people who know :-)
[16:52:39] <adj__> olimex staff don't usually chat here
[16:53:21] <adj__> and when I said "maybe", in reality I'm quite sure
[16:53:49] <adj__> "We have assembled units and now working on the software."
[17:10:38] <rah> I've chatted with olimex staff here
