IRC #olimex 2015-04-23

[00:13:46] <lanodan> Hey, does olimex have some stickers ? (will be also kinda cool to be on GnuSocial or diaspora* social network)
[00:49:48] <lanodan> Myeah, I think I’ll use the olimex present on the boxes and glue it as a sticker
[00:51:10] <lukas2511> could also just take the logo (https://www.olimex.com/_layout/images/logo.png) and order a small batch of stickers somewhere
[15:57:04] <curator23> hi
[17:55:50] <lanodan> Hello, can you tell me the polarity of the power jack ? (I think it's - C- + )
[17:57:12] <lanodan> (or positive inside)
[18:01:55] <lukas2511> should be inner positive
[18:03:29] <lanodan> Yes as said on https://www.olimex.com/wiki/PWRJACK
[18:03:53] <lanodan> (This is the most seen for me)
[18:08:38] <lanodan> Uh doesn’t seems to have serial by default ;/
[18:09:34] <lukas2511> what?
[18:11:06] <lanodan> I’m using the USB-Serial-Cable-F on it…
[18:11:23] <lukas2511> on what?
[18:12:13] <lanodan> On a A20-OLinuXino-LIME2
[18:12:40] <lanodan> And my "client" computer is a GNU/Linux debian
[18:13:56] <lukas2511> android image on nand should have at least uboot on serial, and with a linux distro on microsd you should also have at least uboot working. in uboot you could easily add a console=ttyAMA0,115200 or with ttyS0 or something like that as param, but on all images i've encountered so far that was default
[18:25:36] <lanodan> ah there is things on the NAND
[19:57:32] <lanodan> Is there data on power comsumption of the olimex A20?
[20:28:18] <kelvan> hi, anybody built a wifi router based on an olimex board (eg. lime)? we're looking for an open router as base for a new (open) project/product, we would love to use great olimex hardware for it
[20:33:10] <DagoRed> kelvan: It doesn't matter as much what hardware you grab, you just need enough to boot the system and load linux. A USB wifi adapter and a way to get ethernet (either on board or a nother USB device) you can do it.
[20:37:22] <kelvan> DagoRed: well usb wifi can be a bit unrelyable sometimes, we also need good antennas, the wifi mod should do the job I think, seeing an working project would be great to get ideas for case, wifi module, antennas and userinterface for enduser configuration
[20:38:05] <kelvan> it should be a "integrated" product not sone board with multiple usb devices attached
[20:39:03] <lukas2511> kelvan: maybe take a look at cubietruck, iirc it has a wifi module onboard
[20:39:13] <lukas2511> is not by olimex, but you can look at it as reference
[20:40:38] <kelvan> looks nice, didn't know cubieboard is openhardware ...
[20:41:28] <kelvan> maybe it's possible to use the case with an A20-lime
[20:42:46] <kelvan> lukas2511: thanks for the tip
[20:43:57] <lukas2511> well, i think cubieboard is not open as in opensource, but more like gongkai, but i'm not sure
[20:45:46] <kelvan> just wondered because of the "the open source hardware CubieBoard3" at the cubieboard site, but well open source is used in strange ways these days :(
