ESP32-EVB Rev D - ethernet: no ip, no connection

Hi,

I just got the new Rev. D from ESP32-EVB. I was running the ethernet_example, ota_example etc. successfully on the ESP32-EVB Rev. C. The same code does not work on the Rev. D.
emac is saying "eth link up"
esp_eth_init and esp_eth_enable both return ESP_OK
In case I enable DHCP, the device does not get the event that an IP was assigned.
In case I set a static ip, the ip can be read out with tcpip_adapter_get_ip_info,
but I cant do any connection.
I looked into the code on github from Olimex, but I can't find any difference for the Rev D.
Do I have to change some params? Or is there any other difference?
I used the esp-idf release 3.0 from 24th of April

my config:
CONFIG_PHY_TLK110=
CONFIG_PHY_LAN8720=y
CONFIG_PHY_ADDRESS=0
CONFIG_PHY_CLOCK_GPIO0_IN=y
CONFIG_PHY_CLOCK_GPIO0_OUT=
CONFIG_PHY_CLOCK_GPIO16_OUT=
CONFIG_PHY_CLOCK_GPIO17_OUT=
CONFIG_PHY_CLOCK_MODE=0
CONFIG_PHY_USE_POWER_PIN=
CONFIG_PHY_SMI_MDC_PIN=23
CONFIG_PHY_SMI_MDIO_PIN=18

I hope someone can point me in the right direction.  :)

Hi, thx for the answer,
yes I tried the example from Olimex, I compiled it with esp-idf with tag v3.1-dev v3.0-rc1 and v3.0 and of course master. I tried it on win 10 with msys and on mac.
In v3.0 the Lan LEDs are constantly flickering, master looks better, but also no ip and no connection with static ip. (tested in 2 different networks)

I also tried with the ethernet example from the esp-idf.
The Rev C Board ist working with the very same image.
I have 2 Rev D Boards and testet with both.
I think the only change that is relevant between the revisions is the 1k resistor R57.
And its connection to OSC_DIS. What does the name stand for, an oscillator?

greetings, Frank

Frank,

Can you tell me if the problem persists after using the reset button?

The issue doesn't appear with our production tests (which include Ethernet test) so I guess there is some software fix or workaround but we have to investigate further.

Hi Lub,

yes the problem persists, after several resets it is not working,
plugging ethernet cable out and in is also not working. (eth link up and eth link down is shown)

I have just pulled the esp-idf and the Olimex ESP32-EVB repo.
I ve seen that the last commit was named "Update for idf 3.1", but I think v 3.1. is outdated from Decembre 2017. but i guess 3.0.1 was meant.

On compiling I just acknowledged the default options for the esp-idf config.

I had a look at the R57 as it is a change from Rev B to D.
On my boards there is no 1k on R57, there are just two solder joints.
Is that correct? Or do I have to add a 1k there?

Hi,

the Problem seems to be with the DHCP Server. The Board is working when plugged direktly into a Router.
Strange that I have testet with two different DHCP Servers bevore.

No boards from revision D2 had been released. The latest hardware revisions is D1.

Do not add R58 since this change is related to the other change of D2 revision (MCP2551 to MCP2562). This is not needed if your board is hardware revision D1. Furthermore these changes are not related to the Ethernet but to the CAN.
