Can the SHIELD-EKG-EMG-PA electrodes be used in conjunction with monitoring electrodes such as these if the strap to electrode is removed:

Also, if it not possible to have electrodes that stick to surfaces attached to the PA electrodes, do you have any recommendations/links on how to construct passive electrodes compatible with the 3.5mm jack?

Hey diybio,

Unfortunately the electrodes with the foam tape you have linked won't work with the SHIELD-EKG-EMG-PA since the holes on those 3M ones are smaller. If you make custom cables then it would be ok.

The important part of the electrodes is to connect them to the power jack as shown on page 16 of the user's manual: https://www.olimex.com/Products/Duino/Shields/SHIELD-EKG-EMG/resources/SHIELD-EKG-EMG.pdf.

Hi Lub,

Thanks for the advice! I've decided to buy the cables.

Do you happen to know what size the electrode hole should be to be compatible with the PA leads if I did want to buy connectors on the market?

Hey there,

It is ~15mm (without the plastic housing) but I am not quite familiar with the way the 3M electrodes get attached to the leads.

I can't guarantee the whole combo would work, maybe a better idea would be to see the SHIELD-EKG-EMG-PA yourself (and its plastic housing and dimensions) before purchasing the 3M electrodes.
