Title: new MSP430 not showing correct values
Post by: deepa on April 20, 2016, 02:39:06 PM
Hi,

My MSP430 just arrived in the mail yesterday and I understood that the values for SPO2 and Pulse would show up correctly when the sensor and battery were connected.  However the pulse rate jumps around from 85-125 a lot and doesn't stabilize.  Also even when there is no finger connected to the sensor, erroneous values show up on the screen.  Is this how the board is right out of the box? Or am I doing something wrong?

I'm a newbie with development boards and kits and would appreciate your help.

Hey,

You need to have the sensor connected to your finger for some time. The values are approximation - the more readings the software gets - the better the results.

Even if there is no finger the sensor would provide results to the board - it is normal to have readings even if there is no finger.

If you are looking for more accurate values consider using a better sensor.
