Title: PIC32-MX460 and PIC-ICD2-TINY
Post by: priestnot on February 17, 2014, 10:58:21 PM
I have a MX460 development board from olimex and a PIC-ICD2-TINY programmer but I do not know how to connect them and how to configure MPLABX to use it.

I connect the programmer via ICSP. But I still have a power jack that I do not know if I have to use it to power the programmer or to power the development board.

Is there any one that can help me?

By the way is there some tutorial to help me get started with pic32 and with this development board?
The topics I am interested are:

No one?

Is this even compatible with MPLABX?

Hunt around MPLABX menus to select the proper chip, your programmer etc.

If no menu exists, contact Microchip about their product MPLABX.  They have support forum, email etc.

There's no harm asking on here but I doubt Microchip personnel read here so won't answer and after all these are their products you're asking about.

You did not understand the question the programer and the board are from olimex.
And it is suposed to be brogramable from mplabx.

So this is a question about olimex products so olimex should answer.

You don't seem able to grasp that MPLABX is not from Olimex and nor is the CPU chip.

But have it your own way and good luck!  Someone may answer but there again they may not...

Why not ask Mchp or indeed hunt round the menus?

I am sorry if I am starting a flame war it is not my intention.

No but is a software that is used to program PIC's. And as you state is the microprocessor of the Olimex board
And as it is stated on the product page of PIC-ICD2-TINY (https://www.olimex.com/Products/PIC/Programmers/PIC-ICD2-TINY/)
it should work with MPLAB

You are rigth o harm in asking that is what indeed I am doing asking the manufacturer how to do it.
And yes and I did ask microchip and "Surprise" they say that they are not their products.

And they are right Olimex used a PIC to implement their development board, and they made a programer that they state that works with MPLAB (https://www.olimex.com/Products/PIC/Programmers/PIC-ICD2-TINY/) so they should give the suport.

If a led on my car does not work I will not go talk with the led manufacturer I will talk with the car manufacturer.
So Yes this is the right place to ask.

So I will ask again to see if some one can answer my questions:

First question:
How do I connect the PIC-ICD2-TINY to the PIC32-MX460?
Do I just need to connect the ICSP connector? There is a power jack do I need to connect it?

Second question:
How to I program the PIC32-MX460 with MPLABX or any other version

Please some one from Olimex help.

Yes, they made it for MPLAB.  Not for MPLABX which is more recent and often is incompatible.

With the red warning on the product page I expect MPLABX also does not work with that variant of ICD2.
