Title: Signals from electrode are too high or low
Post by: leochengboon on July 12, 2013, 07:30:20 AM
Hi, I'm using 2 shield-ekg-emg with olimexino 328. I've uploaded the ShieldEkgEmgDemo.ino and observe the data through ElecGuru. The electrodes were connected to my left (L) and right (R) arm and my ankle (D). The signal pattern was shown in my attachment, the front part of the graph is when I was not moving. When I started to move my hands, the value is either at 1023 or at 0.

Here is my jumpers setting:
REF E - opened
5V
D9
ANI_SEL- 1 postion

Is there any solution for it?

Regards.

Hello leochengboon,

This is completely normal. The idea is to measure the EKG without putting effort in the muscles – this is a sensitive device. If you are exercising it would go into extremes. You are supposed to stay without moving if measuring the EKG.

By the way some people are using this "bug" as a "feature". For instance in this project: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=38SnocWQFkM (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=38SnocWQFkM). The project uses SHIELD-EKG-EMG.

Best regards,
