[11:56:21] <leon-anavi> hi
[15:17:28] <drupi> hi
[15:19:07] <drupi> is there anybody here who is using an the OlinuXino A33? Are you happy with it?
[15:24:11] <adj__> drupi, I don't use it, I prefer better Linux mainline support, so I use A20-Lime2
[15:24:55] <adj__> although A33 seems to be quite well with a recent kernel
[15:25:01] <adj__> https://linux-sunxi.org/Mainlining_Effort
[15:25:02] <drupi> adj__: better Linux support? what exactly does this mean?
[15:25:13] <adj__> look at the link
[15:25:15] <drupi> do you have an A33 board?
[15:25:21] <drupi> adj__: ok thanks
[15:25:55] <drupi> adj__: can you tell me what external memory I can attach to the board? I couldn't find a socket for an SD/MMC card, or?
[15:26:10] <drupi> the A20 also has SATA support right?
[15:26:16] <adj__> yes
[15:26:44] <adj__> about which board are you asking bout sd/mmc?
[15:26:53] <drupi> the A33
[15:27:04] <drupi> sorry for the confusion
[15:27:34] <drupi> in the A33 usermanual it talks about 3 controllers for SD/MMC
[15:27:55] <adj__> I don't know, A10 and A20 are the only allwinner socs with sata afaik, and A20 the only one with sata and gbit ethernet
[15:27:58] <drupi> so I'm confused.
[15:28:43] <drupi> basically I'm trying to understand the difference between A20 and A33 .. as far as I see it A33 is a bit "faster"
[15:29:12] <drupi> but missing external memory capabilities?
[15:30:33] <adj__> A33 olinuxino has micro sd, right?
[15:31:56] <adj__> drupi, https://linux-sunxi.org/Allwinner_SoC_Family
[15:32:18] <drupi> adj__: thank you!
[15:32:24] <adj__> A33 has 4 cores while A20 has 2, and A33 cores can be run at higher frequency
[15:32:34] <adj__> but A20 has gbit ethernet and sata
[15:32:42] <adj__> it depends on your needs
[15:36:11] <drupi> adj__: so A33 has no ethernet at all? how is one supposed to connect to the net? usb/wifi?
[15:48:17] <drupi> another question regarding A20 Lime2 ... there are 3 different versions, without NAND, with 4GB NAND, and with 4 GB NAND eMMC ... what can the NAND be used for, what is it good for, in particular the eMMC version?
[15:51:47] <adj__> most allwinner socs are designed for low end tablets, ethernet or sata are not needed for that
[15:53:09] <adj__> lime2 without nand runs from the sd card, the nand can be used to have the operating system on it and liberate the sd card
[15:53:33] <adj__> nand is not so well supported, so eMMC is much more recommended
[15:53:38] <adj__> and probably much faster
[15:54:09] <adj__> eMMC is exactly the same as and sd card, but in a soldered chip instead of a card
[15:54:17] <adj__> drupi, I have to leave, see you
[15:54:41] <adj__> I use lime2 without nand or emmc, by the way
[15:54:45] <adj__> see you
[15:54:56] <drupi> adj__: ok thank you!
