[IMX233-MAXI] System does not fully boot

Hello and sorry for a newbie question, but I was struggling all day long with this.

I got IMX233-MAXI few days ago and it boots from the SD card which I found in the box (ARCH linux), however the system is extremely outdated and I wanted to install something newer (+ I prefer Debian). I did not simply update the distro because of some well known ARCH issues from May 2013 (links vs. folders /usr/bin /sbit, etc.)

I tried both Debian and ARCH following the manuals
https://www.olimex.com/Products/OLinuXino/iMX233/_resources/ARCH-README.TXT
and
https://www.olimex.com/Products/OLinuXino/iMX233/_resources/DEBIAN-README.TXT
(I downloaded the images from google.docs). I am not a Linux newbie, so I believe that I managed to create partitions and copy the images correctly.

In both cases I am stuck at the same point - I can see the penguin on the screen, but nothing else (I do not get into a login and command prompt).

I guess I missed something, thanks for help.

Hi kaktus,

did you checked the UART output?

Can you login via UART?

I will try it tomorrow after I get a cable.

Currently I am a bit lost with the number of different versions of OS at the main page. There is something different on github, something different on Wordpress version of the site and the third system on Wiki.

The one from github does not work, while the ones on Wiki and Wordpress do work. When I get the cable I will try Debian from wiki (I guess it is the newest since it works on kernel 3.11)

Debian image from Wiki works like a charm through UART, but both ARCH and Debian from Github do NOT work in my case (maybe they run, but I cannot access OLinuXino neither through UART nor using video out, so I cannot configure network). As long as "not working versions" are not a problem, topic can be closed. If more debugging from my side can be provided - let me know.

mbergmann - thank you for your help and suggestion.
