Looking for Power Adapter

I just bought a LIME and I am looking for a suitable power adapter. I read the adapter has to be regulated (See http://microcontrollershop.com/product_info.php?products_id=6423). Is that true? If so can anyone recommend one? I can't seem to find one.

P.S. I am in the U.S.

Oh, I should add that I will be running the board and a 2.5in HDD. Looking at the specs for each I think that means I need at least 2.3A of power.

I talked to a rep of Super Power Supply, and they assured me that the following power adapter is regulated.

So I am going to try it.

Well, I got it in the mail and it turns out to be completely the wrong plug. It's a 2.5x0.7mm which is way too tiny. So I am looking for the right spec and I can't find it anywhere.

Does any one have the proper spec for the power adapter it needs? What is the width of the power plug?

Can't you just cut off the wrong one and replace it with the correct one?

Thanks for the suggestion! Yea, I could do that, but I want to make sure I have a supplier if my project works out and I build more units.

Thankfully a helpful voice from OLIMEX just gave me the info I needed:

  • the power jack on LIME is standard
  • you need adapter with 5.5mm outer diameter and 2.1 mm internal diameter inner pin is positive
  • regulated this means it must be exactly 5V and not exceeding this value as otherwise the board will be damaged
  • some adapters are not regulated this means they are 5V under load but are with bigger voltage if not loaded this will be a problem
  • you can check if the adapter is regulator very easy: with multimeter you measure the voltage with no load it should be 5.0V

Which clarified why I was having such a problem finding an adapter --I was looking for 2.5mm instead of 5.5mm.
