USB Audio Codec

Hi,  I have been trying to use a USB UCA202 audio codec on the usb port in addition to the built in audio codec. This is a generic device and is automatically recognised by ALSA on most other devices but not on the A10S or an A10 Cubieboard I also have. It has, like keyboard and mouse, on the A10S to be plugged in via a usb hub and it is then seen by LSUSB correctly and is shown in DMESG but I have tried everything to get ALSA to see it. I am begining to wonder if it needs something more subtle such as an entry in Script.bin to allow use of such devices.  Does anyone have any ideas about this please.
