Hi, I initially purchased a Esp32-Poe and with this device when I connected to the Ethernet cable (apart from the power on led) two led lights came on. Being impressed with the device I have now upgraded to the "ISO" version and when connecting this to the Ethernet cable the power on leds come on but no additional leds to indicate that I am connected to the internet.

Therefore, can you please provide me with some guidance in how I can check if I am connected to the network/ internet. Thanks

The ESP32-POE-ISO still has LINK and ACK LEDs but boards come empty, you need to first download code that initializes the Ethernet. Try with one of the Ethernet demos, like this one for Arduino IDE:

Hi, I tried to running the Guithub code that initializes the Ethernet, and it didn't work and the serial monitor and debug note is as follows:

21:32:10.677 -> ETH MAC: 00:00:00:00:00:00, IPv4: 0.0.0.0

Are you using regular variant of ESP32-POE-ISO? Or is it some WROVER variant? What exactly is the variant of the ESP32-POE-ISO that you are using?

Are you using OpenOCD to program the board? What is this OpenOCD report that you reported? Program it via the USB.

The ESP32-POE-ISO is a Esp32-WROVER-E, and I used Arduino IDE to upload the code to it, which was via the usb. Thanks.

This makes it clear. The issue is the WROVER variant requires different pin for the PHY Ethernet clock. Did you select proper board and board variant in Arduiono IDE:

For the "-WROVER" boards you need to use GPIO0 for Ethernet clock. As the manual says:

"ESP32-POE-ISO-WROVER and ESP32-POE-ISO-WROVER-EA have no GPIO16 and GPIO17 led out, since they are used for the PSRAM. GPIO16 is replaced by GPIO33. GPIO17 is replaced by GPIO0, this is important for the Ethernet connectivity, since GPIO17/GPIO0 is Ethernet clock out. Make sure to use new assignments if your board variant comes with the WROVER chip."

Refer to the schematic and the manual, page 24 with the FAQ "Help! Ethernet is not working. I use ESP32-POE-WROVER and ESP32-POE-ISOWROVER. Is the device broken?":

Thanks for your last message as this helped me to get the device working. Thanks again.
