Howdy,

I am trying to to run a webcam on the A20.
So far, cuvcview is recognizing the USB video grabber ( EasyCap with Empia2816).
However, no video visible. Could be by the fact that the EasyCap has a S-Video and a CVBS (Composite) input and I could not find a way to select inputs with cuvcview.
Cheese starts up, but freezes.
Zoneminder installs, but does not start ...

Did anybody have success with a USB webcam, video grabber and would not mind to share ?

Thanks
Oskar

there is UVC support in the Debian image so any standard video camera will work, EasyCap require special drivers, search our blog there was customer of ours who already used it but had to install drivers

you are probably talking about his one, I guess:
http://olimex.wordpress.com/2013/03/08/easycap-low-cost-usb-video-capture-board-drivers-for-a13-olinuxino/

with the stk1160 chipset

However, EasyCap comes in a lot of different flavors - the one I have use the Empia chipset ( 2861, for example)

btw, zoneminder started up after removing and re-installing. Go figure...

well, I need to bring this up again.

Still cannot get video capture to work on the A20 (with latest ultimate image)

I have 2 different Empia "EasyCap" dongles. 2860 and 2861 Chipset.
Both device work fine in an fresh/clean current Debian Wheezy install. I am using http://packages.debian.org/stable/utils/qv4l2 to test.

On the A20 with the ultimate image, the dongle is recognized, I can start capture.
The frames are counting ...
However the video output is just a black screen.

Any hints are highly appreciated, I am at a loss here

Thanks
Oskar

it seems that none of the Easycap devices will work on a debian hf system, :-(
The devices are recognized, but produce not usable video output with either motion, v4l2 test bench, cheese .. name them.

The only device I could get to work was this one:
