Title: Getting started with the Olimex ISP500 and Arduino
Post by: zaerth on May 06, 2022, 03:26:07 PM
Hi,

I have several Atmel clone boards, which I wanted to flash with the Arduino IDE. Since the boards have an Atmel Atmega328P, I thought an AVR programmer might be useful. So, I got an Olimex ISP500. However, the device is not recognized by the Arduino IDE, and it seems to be a firmware problem. How can I find out if this is the case?

I mainly work with Linux and Mac, but all discussions I find is a needed firmware upgrade on Windows. What is the best way to use this programmer with the Arduino IDE?

Did you follow the FAQ section at the bottom of the product page here:

https://www.olimex.com/Products/AVR/Programmers/AVR-ISP500/

There is this question "I can't get this programmer working with Arduino IDE. What should I do?".
