Title: TERES 1 is dead?
Post by: neosoyo on January 19, 2022, 01:47:14 AM
Hey there,

i was looking for more information about TERES project and seems to be a rebranded RemixOS laptop : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbU-syi-Bwo , it's true?

The full HD version will be released? if not, can you guys at least provide the compatible LCD panel part number?

I was wondering if someone had done an Raspberry Pi CM4 laptop and TERES 1 seems to be the perfect platform to develop it, but this LCD is far from "future proof"..

best regards,
neosoyo

I don't think full HD is coming. LCD design can be seen from the schematics, we encourage you to look at the design files and use them as basis for own projects.

It appears that interest is close to zero
Therefore, not dead yet, but walking dead

Teres is an evaluation board with minimal propagation atm it's not really meant to be a consumer product at this stage, but rather platform to build upon or challenge project for engineers to fabricate the device from scratch without OLIMEX's help for which it's very known in the OSHW community just that people don't have the required skills to use it.

But there seems to be a lot of interest for my development of teres 2.0 that I am planning to promote heavily once we have a robust design, but it will still take at least another 2 months before it gets anything usable published as the SOM design is kinda a difficult task to solve in a way that works in small form-factors.

Though teres 1.5 contributions are nearly finished and ready to be published, but I don't expect the popularity to change as it's basically a bunch of mods to modernize the existing product and meant maintly for people who already own teres that expects people to be capable technicians to perform the adjustments.
