Title: MOD LCD2.8RTP touchscreen controller
Post by: striderheng on March 24, 2021, 11:12:46 AM
Hi,
Can someone form Olimex confirm that the touchscreen controller used in this product is a Microchip technology AR1021T chip, and not a STMPE610 chip implied from the demo sketch.

I can confirm. The chip is AR1021. The I2C protocol for STMPE610 and AR1021 is similar.

We placed few jumpers for future compatibility reasons (if we decide to place AR1011 instead of AR1021) so that the board can be used in UART mode instead of I2C.

Thanks. The i2c protocol might be the same but the commands you send and the type of info you can get over i2c is completely different. It might be nice to add touchscreen controler info to the Olimex website page for the product that the touchscreen controller is from Microtechnology and not from STmicroelectronics.
