Title: High Power POE
Post by: ingkarlgauss on January 04, 2021, 10:26:58 AM
Hi, I am testing the ESP32-POE and I am astonished how the POE components get hot. Does someone have come with a solution for this? Thanks.

Some extra heat is expected considering the sizes of the board and components and that 50V go in Si3402 and only 5V go out.

Check the datasheet of the component that gets hot and consider if the temperature is within specification.

For example, Si3402-B has thermal shutdown set at 160 degrees Celsius.

Maybe place some piece of aluminium for passive cooling, or small fan for active cooling.

Thanks for your answer Mr. Lub. I see your point. Nice evening, all the best.
