Title: ESP8266 latest compatible firmware version
Post by: gfoiani on November 21, 2016, 09:30:21 PM
Hi all,

which is the latest firmware version (from Expressif) compatible with ESP8266-EVB?
I'm refferring to the following page:
http://espressif.com/en/products/hardware/esp8266ex/resources (http://espressif.com/en/products/hardware/esp8266ex/resources)

Is V2.0.0 compatible?

Thanks

Giovanni

If that's the larger one then maybe it won't fit.

Hey,

We haven't tested it. Feel free to try if it works. You can use this document as basis on how to update the firmware: https://www.olimex.com/Products/IoT/_resources/ESP8266EX-how-to-update-firmware.pdf

Keep us updated.

Best regards,
Lub/OLIMEX

Edit: My colleagues have tested our modules with the SDK V2.0.0 and it seems to work fine. They have tested the precompiled AT command firmware.

Hi,

Is this information still current? If not what it the version currently used in the ESP8266-EVB and ESP8266-EVB-BAT out of the factory?

Thanks!

Looking at the date of my previous post I highly doubt it still applies. Its been more than 7 years...

When I check a board from the factory it says:

AT version:1.3.0.0(Jul 14 2016 18:54:01)
SDK version:2.0.0(656edbf)

So it is pretty old. Better try the latest one and follow the guide.

Same for the tools, better use the latest release of flash download tools. All latest resources and tools can be found here:
