yup, i think you are right, microEJ isn't open sourced, but for mcus i'd think sticking with c, c++ is probably a good idea after all. and there is no need to go with java
i'd guess these days there are many 'high level language' programmers who basically only do java and c# and scorned c as being 'low level', possibly being afraid of pointers & having to deal with messy memory management. but the hot 'iot' mkt brought this group to come head on into a different / foreign world - micro controllers.
this creates an opportunity for commercial companies presenting solutions that bridge the gap :D
