Title: Battery Stats for Debian Image
Post by: laughingguffly on December 18, 2014, 10:15:18 PM
Just bought the iMX233 and booted up the debian image. I've read the forums and they all seem to say that battery stats are available at /sys/class/power_supply/battery

/sys/class/power_supply/ directory is empty.

Am I looking in the wrong place?

Right I have done some research it turns out I had Kernel 3+ this means no support for the battery charger.

Ok, so I downloaded the other official kernel - Archlinux..

That only works if you boot it with the battery or the 5v charger.

If you boot together I receive

"unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 0000001d"

There seems to be a couple of posts over the last 12 months regarding this issue but with no solutions.

Does that mean that currently there is no official Distro that properly supports the charger for the iMX233?

Hi,

you could try to fetch the "latest" Kernel version from Freescale:

http://git.freescale.com/git/cgit.cgi/imx/linux-2.6-imx.git/?h=imx_2.6.35_maintain (http://git.freescale.com/git/cgit.cgi/imx/linux-2.6-imx.git/?h=imx_2.6.35_maintain)

In the case the problem is still reproducable you can post the complete stack trace here:

https://community.freescale.com/ (https://community.freescale.com/imx)

Best regards
Stefan
