How can I download the IAR examples into the board? Is it necessary to by additional
hardware or is it posible with the existing usb connection on the board?

There are two ways to download code to the msp430 chip:
1) Compile your binary with IAR EW(or other tool) and use a USB connection and the USB firmware updater tool provided by TI:

2) Using a separate programmer - this will allow you to upload/debug your code with IAR. Take a look at two of our programmers:
