Title: MSP430-JTAG-ISO-MK2 Format Partitioning
Post by: sean1_3 on June 17, 2014, 04:08:36 PM
Hi,
I've been using the MSP430 JTAG ISO MK2 for the last few months and today after programming my MSP430F5438A, the screen on the programmer displayed "Format partitioning Please wait." After about half an hour the screen still displayed the same text and is unresponsive. I've tried power cycling the programmer but it still displays the same text and is unresponsive. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
Sean

Hello Sean,

First ensure you are using latest firmware (e.g. you have placed latest MSP430.dll in the software tool you are using, and if prompted you have agreed to install firmware update). The latest revision is 2.0.0.7 and might be downloaded from this link: https://www.olimex.com/Products/MSP430/JTAG/MSP430-JTAG-ISO-MK2/resources/OLIMEX_MSP430-DLL_drivers.zip (https://www.olimex.com/Products/MSP430/JTAG/MSP430-JTAG-ISO-MK2/resources/OLIMEX_MSP430-DLL_drivers.zip)

If the debugger works in debugger mode (with an IDE or programming software) and displays the error mentioned only in mass storage or stand alone mode then it is likely that the microSD card inside has gone bad. Either replace the microSD card (remove the covers very carefully since it is pretty tight inside) or send the unit back for repair or replacement. The warranty conditions might be found here: https://www.olimex.com/wiki/GTC#Warranty (https://www.olimex.com/wiki/GTC#Warranty)

Best regards,
Lub/OLIMEX
