Title: EEG-SMT USB-extension cable
Post by: sunstone on May 17, 2014, 09:33:39 PM
Hey,
I'm arranging experiment with this device next week and I'm interested to know IF it's possible to use extension cable for EEG-smt. And is it okay to use for example 5m active extension cable?
Thanks

Hello sunstone,

It is possible. However, the cable should probably be a shielded one and with quite low resistance. Also please note that if the cable is very long each movement of the cable might create wrong data as output. You might need to hold the cable still while doing data monitoring/recording.

Best regards,

LubOlimex,

Thank for your reply. I tried 3m long cable, but it seems not to work(doesn't recognize the device in Windows). Probably tomorrow I will try 2m.

Hmm strange. I replaced now the original cable with similar except it's two meters in length. It still isn't working  :'( I think the participants just have to sit close to the PC then..

Hey sunstone,

You might try with extension cable on the other side also. If electrodes extension didn't work, you might want to try with longer USB cable, or vice versa.
