Title: ARM-USB-OCD-H Win8 support
Post by: georgiad on April 16, 2014, 02:35:25 PM
Hi All
I try to install the drivers, both for open ocd and coocox, but I cannot conclude the procedure because
of the signing issue of win8 64b.
Is this debugger supported by win8? Is there any way to overcome the signing problem?
Thanks
Pantelis

What happens if you bypass the signing issue?

Hi John
Unfortunately in win8 64b it's not possible to bypass signing. I wrote also to Olimex support but
no reply so far.

Is there no Microsoft article about this?  (I think there is but have dropped Windows)

Reality is there will be thousands of devices which work but won't have such signing so MS need to allow this - and probably do.

Failing that, avoid Win64.

Dual-boot is easy....

It is posiblle in 64bit W7, but it requires enabling so-called "Test mode" and it's very, very complicated, but it works (see http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_programs/how-to-i-turn-off-digital-signature/a7047647-bf29-468f-a885-8e23d60f3daa (http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_programs/how-to-i-turn-off-digital-signature/a7047647-bf29-468f-a885-8e23d60f3daa)). I have no clue if this can be appllied in W8+

Thanks for the suggestions. I will try the test mode asap (when I'll return from Easter holidays). 8)

Hello gerogiad,

You can disable "driver singature enfrocement" that is enabled by default in Windows 8. Then you can install the driver. I wouldn't recommend the test mode or the registry fixes since I have tried them all and they are not very reliable.

How to disable "driver signature enforcement might be found in a lot of articles in Internet. Still please check this guide: http://www.howtogeek.com/167723/how-to-disable-driver-signature-verification-on-64-bit-windows-8.1-so-that-you-can-install-unsigned-drivers/ (http://www.howtogeek.com/167723/how-to-disable-driver-signature-verification-on-64-bit-windows-8.1-so-that-you-can-install-unsigned-drivers/)

I use Windows 8.1 x64 myself. The debuggers work fine.

Best regards,
Lub/OLIMEX
