Title: A13-OLinuXino-WIFI with wifi of other manufacturer
Post by: vinifr on November 06, 2012, 04:45:00 AM
Hi Olimex.

Is it possible to change the wifi module from Realtek by another? For example, Atheros(ath9k_htc), Intersil/Conexant(p54usb), Ralink(rt2800usb)... or any other, whose driver supports AP mode.

The names in parentheses are examples of drivers that support AP mode and are USB.

I tried to create an access point wifi with rtl8192cu but it did not work.

The module create the access point, but i can not connect. I tried by pc, smart phone... but dont works.

I searched on the internet, and all the sites all say the same thing: is not possible to connect to the access point created by RTLxxxx.

Here have a table with drivers that support AP mode: http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers (http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers)
