I successfully ran ElectricGuru using wine on Ubuntu 9.01,
create a symbolic link to set up the com port, something like
ln -s /dev/ttyUSB0 ~/.wine/dosdevices/com4
The kernel driver recognizes the FTDI chip and creates /dev/ttyUSB0 on my box.
