Title: PIC-WEB programming with serial port hex/mplap
Post by: bmwdriftpower on December 12, 2013, 06:53:19 PM
Hello,

Is it possible to program this unit with its own serial connector with MPLAB X or a separate hex file? I like to use it as my first board to becomme fammiliar with PIC s. I rather dont buy direct a espensive programmer.

Kind Regards,
Ronald

Hello Ronald,

There is no built-in bootloader in the PIC18F67J60. The only way to program it is via the ICSP connector and a third-party programmer.

If you are in doubt what to buy I recommend you:

1) the PIC-KIT3 by Olimex: (https://www.olimex.com/Products/PIC/Programmers/PIC-KIT3/); you would also need a connector adapter for the small step ICSP: https://www.olimex.com/Products/PIC/Programmers/PIC-ICSP/ (https://www.olimex.com/Products/PIC/Programmers/PIC-ICSP/)

OR

2) the original PICkit3 by Microchip.

The good part of both PICKIT3s is that they work with the newest generation of PIC32 microcontrollers and are supported both in older MPLAB 7 and 8 version and in new MPLAB X.

Best regards,
