Title: NRND (Not Recommended for New Design) Status of i.mx233 from Freescale?
Post by: nullbert on July 12, 2013, 07:44:48 PM
Hello,

We're looking to design some new hardware around the i.mx233 processor and we're concerned about the NRND status of the i.mx233.

Olimex, have you heard from Freescale about the long term availability for this processor?

Any recommendation on replacement processor? We were looking at the imx25 as well, but sadly, not available in LQFP.

Thank you for any advise.

-Brent

imx233 will be produced till 2019 and there are no supply problems with this chip
imx233 is the only Freescale ARM in TQFP DIY friendly package, so no plans to replace it with BGA chip which many home users will not be able to solder
