Title: Pic32-Maxi-Web No Image on the display
Post by: hcontrol on May 26, 2013, 09:21:45 PM
Hi,
I'v connected the demo board pic32-maxi-web to power supply 9VDC first, but there is no image on the display.
Is there any program in the PIC, or is it necessary to program it first?
Or it is necessary to power it just 12V?
Thank

Hey hcontrol,

9V are not sufficient for PIC32-MAXI-WEB. The board requires 12V DC (ideally no more no less than 12VDC).

Best regards,

Thank for your answer,
I'v connected it do 12V, the consumption is about 80mA, red LED is lighting, but there is no image and no backlight on the display. I measure 5.0V ant 3.3V power, oscilator 8MHz is running, the PIC is not blank (I'v red FLASH by ICD3).
I haven't reprogrammed it yet.
What to do with it? Reprogram, or return it to distributor (mouser)?
Thank.

The problem was, that the secondary oscillator was not running due to a bad solder joint.
It is working from 9V PWS.
Thank for help :-(

Hey hcontrol,

Glad you saw this problem and got it solved.

The board might not behave solid at 9V, unfortunately, if you hook more peripherals to it (or stress the MCU) there might be under voltages. The recommended voltage is 12VDC.
