Title: TI eZ430 USB Stick & Olimex MSP430 boards
Post by: zeronio on April 01, 2013, 11:56:10 AM
Is it possible to use eZ430 USB Stick to program Olimex MSP430s, if I connect all the pins correctly?
It has VCC, GND, RX, TX, TEST/SBWTCK, RST/SBWTDIO pins. They seem compatible with Olimex JTAG interface.

I am asking because I already own such stick and i would like to try Olimex boards.

Hey zeronio,

Olimex MSP430 boards are compatible with TI development tools. Notice, however, that our layout differs a bit from the default TI one (RST and TST lines) - BUT on most of our boards we have jumpers that allow to configure the board for TI_FET or OLIMEX_FET. This is easy to notice in the device's schematics (for example OLIMEXINO-5510, check the DEBUG INTERFACE block): https://www.olimex.com/Products/Duino/MSP430/OLIMEXINO-5510/resources/OLIMEXINO-5510_Rev_B_sch.pdf  (https://www.olimex.com/Products/Duino/MSP430/OLIMEXINO-5510/resources/OLIMEXINO-5510_Rev_B_sch.pdf). You might find more info on the device's page (or any MSP430 board in that regard): https://www.olimex.com/Products/Duino/MSP430/OLIMEXINO-5510/ (https://www.olimex.com/Products/Duino/MSP430/OLIMEXINO-5510/).

Best regards,
