Title: 330 ohm resistor needed to protect Olimex JTAG adapters during fuse blow?
Post by: kenyee on March 25, 2013, 09:54:16 PM
Is R2 in this diagram needed to protect Olimex's adapters when blowing the security fuse?

I noticed it's not Olimex's MSP430 boards, but wanted to confirm before I try this so I don't fry my JTAG-ISOv2 in SBW mode :-)

Hello kenyee,

This R2 is not needed as long as you use Olimex made JTAG capable of fuse programming (which is the case with your MSP430-JTAG-ISO-MK2). We have calculated this in the JTAGs we make.

Best regards,
Lub/OLIMEX

Thanks, Lub.

This should probably be noted in the manual or product page.
The Tag-Connect folks said that adding that 330 ohm resistor twice won't work (which is why they make it optional on their SBW adapter board).

Nice to have it built-in though...not sure why TI didn't do that w/ their FET-UIF adapter
