Title: do we need to download BROM to A20 at the first time?
Post by: DavidChen072 on December 27, 2016, 12:01:59 PM
 hello!
i have a board "A20-OLinuXino-MICRO-4GB". I installed android in microSD. i connect "A20-OLinuXino-MICRO-4GB" with "LCD-OLinuXino-7TS" . It work very well.  Now i am going to develop my own board base on "A20-OLinuXino-MICRO-4GB".

This is the first time i work with SOC. i usually use micro controller for my project such as : pic, avr, 8051, arm. i have to download firmware from PC to Micro controller.

I read document of A20, it has Boot ROM (BROM).  do i have to download BROM to A20 at my own board ? . ( i buy A20 from olimex).

It is always there from the maker (AW - AllWinner) (and is ROM i.e. read-only).

That mean, I don't need download any firmware to A20. I only need has microSD card that has android OS. Is this true?

You don't even need the uSD unless you want it, as you say you're going to have 4GB (NAND).

I'm unclear why anyone would make yet another A20 board when so many cheap ones exist but that should not stop you of course.  I do wonder what will be different about yours?

I hope you have very hi-tech ways to debug it, especially DRAM traces etc.
