Title: Class10 SD card
Post by: hankgong on September 17, 2014, 11:41:15 PM
Hello

I'm using Olimex A13 board and its OS image downloaded from repository. According to the Wiki article, I can see that a class 10 micro SD card is recommended. I have tried to use both slow Class4 SD card and Class10 SD card.

However, I'm just wondering. The class 4 or 10 here means writing speed not reading speed. The reading speed should be pretty much same. Normally, my application will not write anything onto the SD card.

When I tested with different class SD card, I can see some noticeable performance difference. I'm just wondering why it is.

Hank

Most Class 10 is faster than Class 4 for reading too, because they use faster chips. The 'classes' are for devices like cammeras where the only write speed matters.
