Title: A20-SOM and Gigabit Ethernet
Post by: Riaan on September 08, 2014, 12:55:39 AM
Good day,

Is the A20-SOM/A20-SOM-EVB capable of gigabit Ethernet as advertised? Has anyone benchmarked the network throughput of this module?

Thank you!

Bert Lindner has done some benchmarking between two A20-OLinuXino-LIME2 boards. Granted, the LIME2 is not the same as the A20-SOM, but they are quite similar: they both have a 1 GHz A20 processor and the LIME2 has the same GMAC as the EVB. See this Google+ post:

Hello guys,

A20-SOM-EVB is capable of Gigabit Ethernet - it has the proper connector and the proper software support. Same applies for A20-OLinuXino-LIME2. We haven't done extensive bench-marking and I can't quote exact speeds. The transfer speed is definitely few times faster than the regular 100Mb Ethernet interface.

Best regards,
