Title: LIPO 4400 battery and USB uLiPo charger
Post by: previ on May 08, 2014, 08:06:32 PM
Hello, I am planning to use the LIPO4400 o LIPO 6600 to power a raspberry pi with a step-up DC-DC converter 3.7 => 5v.

Is the battery natively protected from excessive discharge or is it necessary to provide a protection circuit between the battery and the converter?

Thanks
Roberto

Hello Roberto,

There is short-circuit protection in the Li-Po batteries. The maximum discharge current is 4000mA per hour for the LIPO4400 and 6600mA per hour for LIPO6600mA.

Additional protection is always welcome.

Best regards,
