Hello,
I have several Olinuxino A20 with Debian picture.
I try to send the sound captured by the microphone of a card to the other cards with libVLC encoding in G711 (aLaw). But the CPU usage increases to 100% on all cards when capturing microphone and when I hear the sound... I specify that the problem occurs essentially in intercom. CPU usage is not as important when playing a sound file encoded in mp3 (or other).
Do you think if I add an external sound card, the problem could be solved?
Thank you in advance.
I would suspect software resampling is stressing the CPU ...
Anyway I just tested audio playback using mplayer and the sound is half garbage
mplayer http://rzr.online.fr/audio.oga
but only use ~8% CPU ...
Any hints, or info on the audio module ?

There is some problem on audio in A20.
Using Jack or snd-aloop produces choppy audio. CPU usage is high but below 100%
Memory usage is low. But sound is very bad.
My test are done with an SDR receiver (seen by Debian as a USB sound card) and Quisk as SDR program.
Running Quisk with output on internal audio card is good. 60% of CPU usage. If you switch output on Loopdevice CPU usage increase to 80% and audio become very bad.
Is this due to RAM speed?
