Post by: vaishali on June 14, 2013, 02:05:05 PM
hello everyone,

I have downloaded the given prebuild debian image for a13 micro in my 16gb sd card.
And also followed the steps given in forum to install xfce4 in sd card.
But after chroot if i do

# apt-get update

then i am having problem of error in connection with ftp.uk.....server.
i have found this thread
Installing Xfce4 on debian sd card on a non wifi version board but even in that solution is not given.
Earlier i have successfully installed xfce4 on micro board but somehow i am not able to do it now so please help me with this.

You need to make sure your resolv.conf file is being transferred from your host box to your chroot. My guess is that your chroot doesn't have any DNS information.

hi Jwischka ,

I have done cat /etc/resolv.conf so got this

nameserver 192.168.0.1

and in my /etc/apt/source.list i have

deb http://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian wheezy main contrib non-free

so when i try to do ping ftp.uk.debian.org i got this

ping: unknown host ftp.uk.debian.org

need your help.

please Jwischka, help with this.
Please tell me how should i enable DNS in chroot.
I think it is missing in the prebuilt image.
But in the wiki it is written that it Includes GPIO support, I2C 100kHz WIFI RTL8188CU Ethernet AX88772B no X and no TouchScreen support for LCDs.
Please help me with this.

Is 192.168.0.1 a valid nameserver? It wouldn't be on my network.

Have you confirmed that you can actually ping outside the device (e.g. ping 8.8.8.8).

Also, I don't check this forum incredibly frequently at the moment, so if you REALLY NEED ME RIGHT NOW then I would suggest trying to send me a PM.
