Title: First use of Li-po Battery
Post by: vladott16 on June 23, 2015, 10:19:26 AM
Hello,
I bought USB-uLiPo charger (https://www.olimex.com/Products/Power/USB-uLiPo/open-source-hardware)
and BATTERY-LIPO1400mAh (https://www.olimex.com/Products/Power/BATTERY-LIPO1400mAh/).

Before I first use the battery, do I have to recharge it ? or I can connect it to my circuit ?

Thank for your answers.

Hey,

The Li-Po batteries are not fully charged when you receive them. This is due to risk of fire and due to ambient discharge.

It is a good idea to charge the batteries before usage.

If you have a tool for measuring voltage; you can measure the charge. A well-charged battery should show ~(4.18 - 4.20)V of voltage. A discharged battery should show ~(3.58-3.60)V.

Best regards,
