Title: Ubuntu Snappy
Post by: martinib on January 21, 2015, 11:24:57 AM
Hi Olimex,

I'm just interested in knowing your point of view on Ubuntu Snappy?

And you going to build images for your boards?

Regards,

Martin

Hey,

>>> And you going to build images for your boards?

Probably not. There are unofficial Ubuntu images available for the Olimex boards and I think snappy would work. For example, the images provided by Armbian community are pretty well received by customers: https://www.armbian.com/download/

The only official images that we maintain and support are Debian-based. The reason is that this was the first distribution that we liked and the first distribution that worked fine with our boards. The community is quite large. The goal behind our official images is to have all hardware working (including video and audio output) and we don't care if the kernel is the latest or if the file system is the latest. We can't keep up with the release time table of each u-boot, kernel, file system or distribution and we are not trying to do so.

Best regards,
Lub/OLIMEX
